About Me

Hey! What's good?

My name is Eila Phillip, and I'm a 21 year old young lady living in Waikiki!

My days are mostly occupied with university, seeing as I'm a secondary english eductation major at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in my junior year.

When I have time for fun, I tend to create playlists (I'm a huge music fan, if the Childish Gambino blog title doesn't give it away), make art, go dancing, and or hang out with my little pup, Rex, a strange shih tzu-chihuahua-poodle mix.

I myself am an individual of very mixed heritage: my mother is from Finland, and my Father is from Trinidad! Finland gives me a taste for delicious baked goods, while Trinidad gives me a taste for spice.

No matter what I'm doing with my day, food is always an important part of things, whether it's giving me energy to work hard or an opportunity to relax in one of the many restaurants and cafes I frequent with my friends and family.

I 'm quite particular about what I eat, seeing as I'm a pescatarian who leans a little vegan, if the vegans will forgive me for saying that! You see, in addition to not eating any land animals, I don't consume dairy or eggs unless they're a part of a dessert. My lattes are all soy, for example, and I opt for dairy-free ice creams, and so on and so forth. My diet is a matter of personal flavor preferences, food sensitivities, interest in health, and both qualms related primarily to animal welfare, and secondarily to the environment. I'm also simply used to eating this way, since both Santa Monica and Helsinki, cities I've lived in prior to returning to the island of my birth, were very accommodating of alternative diets, which were, frankly, on trend in these locales. And of course, here in Hawaii, being a pescatarian serves me very well!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy joining me in exploring my relationship to nourishment :-)
